Bangladesh Jamat-e-Islami

 It is the largest Islamist party of  Bangladesh. Bangladesh Jamat-e-Islami  was founded in 1941 by Syed Abul Ala Maududi. Its activities covered Indian subcontinent. In 1970 they opposed the separation of East Pakistan(now Bangladesh) from West Pakistan and also helped the Pakistani army for torturing the people of East wing who wanted liberation. After the liberation Bangabondhu banned its politics but later Major Ziur Rahman recognized them to run its politics here. This party is economically more powerful in Bangladesh. Supporters of this party run Banks, Hospitals and educational institution etc. Now Jamaat joined BNP in alliance of 18 parties led by Begum Khaleda Zia. Recently the top leaders of this party are facing the war crimes trials most of them detained including Ameer and general secratry. The main leader is Matiur Rahman Nizami Who is in prison sell. Its so called student wing is CatroShibir.
